Every time LeBron or THT or a Laker drove into the paint, there were at least 3 and sometimes 4 Heat players challenging the shot. In the fourth quarter, the Heat started doubling LeBron on top and he made the right plays by having his guards set picks for him and then slip to open spots for catch and shoot threes. That should have provided an easy victory had we just made the league average of 37%. Instead, we went 1 for 13, which is 7.7% if you hadn’t already guessed. Hit one more three and the game is a win. LeBron made right plays and those who say he should have driven don’t know what the F they’re talking about.
I had no problem with how we played in the 4th quarter. My issue is with how we played in the first three quarters, standing around while LeBron was isolated on the wing with no picks. We should have run the same offsense as we did in the 4th, which created 13 open threes. Instead, we were lax on defense and allowed the Heat to kill us in points in the paint and turned the ball over 11 times trying to attack the rim and playing right into the Heat’s hands. Too many guys not taking wide open threes in rhythm.
