Just when you thought the Lakers couldn’t sink any lower. We have this monstrosity. The single most embarrassing loss of the year. The low point of what, the last 20 years? Enough said.
A heart transplant is probably an understatement but one tells the whole truth about this team. The body language is very telling. The hunger, the fire in the belly, and the lack of sense of urgency are almost non-existent. And yes, heart transplant is the word indeed.
I have said it before, Russ might not be the solution in so many people’s opinions but he is certainly not the problem for this team either. I am glad he did not play tonight just so folks can find something else to chew on. If I were Russ, I would sit and rest my body til after the all-star break. Just be honest everyone. If Westbrook had played the entire story of this game would have been Westbrook’s errors, selected out in clips, stats. The full-on Westbrook hysteria would have been the story.
The narrative would have been how bad he played, which would have undoubtedly included a bunch of turnovers, missed layups, and a whole bunch of negative stuff. I am not here to defend Russ. I get really upset when I see those turnovers and missed layups. The same goes for LeBron when he missed three wide-open layups and the six turnovers to go with it. This team’s problems go beyond an individual player. It even includes a coaching staff who are baffled beyond comprehension and seemed more worried about their job security to the point of serious malpractice when it comes to utilizing players to their strengths.

Lakers don’t need a trade. They need a heart transplant.
