The Cav’s are over the cap. They have to send salary back. I wonder who that will be. Or will there be a 3rd team involved?
Because Rondo is in a vet minimum deal we can take back a non-guaranteed player or a player to be named later. While the Cavs are over the cap it essentially means they can trade a placeholder, in essence.

Ed Davis is one good of a hustler. I even forgot about him, and he definitely was a favorite of mine.
Just read that we don’t have to bring anyone back. Probably a draft pick or 2 coming our way. This might be a Rondo for Stanley Johnson trade. He’s looked good but we needed a spot to sign him.
Michael, my question is what would you do in this situation if you are Rob? It seems like our hands are tied up roster wise but don’t you find Ed Davis to be intriguing, given that we are using DAJ less at this point? At this point, I am all for Stanley Johnson as well. I am just curious about what the best a Lakers GM would do in this situation.
I always like Ed for his hustle Buba. But we really don’t need him. And at 32 he’s not the player he use to be. Stanley fills our biggest need, a defender with a little size that can guard bigger wings and Small forwards. I’ve seen Stanley guarding all 5 positions. Just remember how he looked hanging with Hardin.
I’d still waive DAJ and keep Collison who I think has more in the tank than he’s shown. Stil, talking about spot minutes and cheerleaders in a playoff situation.
Great observation Michael, that squares with the needs of both teams. I like Ed but keeping Stanley would be better.
Good point on Collision, Jamie. He is almost the forgotten man in this whole situation. Glad you have a positive opinion of him. I kept wondering why nobody talks about him.
These are the kind of moves I see us making. Filler for filler based on need. If we get a 2nd rounder for our troubles that would be awesome.
