The old rules for the MLE was for 1 or 2 years. Multiple sources are saying that Vincent’s 3 year deal was for the MLE. Did the rule change with the new CBA? When the Lakers waived Bamba and Beasley the supposedly opened up 17 mil in cap space. Even space to sign Vincent. So I guess my question is, do we still have the MLE?

There was a comment on ESPN that they used the BAE on Prince so I’m not sure. I don’t have a whole lotta understanding of this new CBA….

“Teams that are above the salary limit: They have the full mid-level available. These teams can offer a contract of up to four years, with a maximum salary of 12.4 million in the first season and annual increases of 5%.”

Per Sam Quinn, we still have option if Russell walked of signing Vincent and Prince with the $17M in cap space created instead of the using the MLE. Might end up with a $5.0M MLE to use. Order does not have to be determined until end of moratorium.
Right now, Lakers are probably trying to see whether they can still re-sign Russell for tradable 1+1 contract or possibly sign-and-trade him for a backup center. So still possible last big move to come.

I get Gabe Vincent had an outlier playoffs, but are we really going to get all worked up about a career single digit, sub 40% shooter?
