Hi DJ, for realities sake I will keep it real. The last time we played them when both teams were healthy we blew them out by 23 in Denver. The last time they were healthy and we had 4 starters and our 2 top reserves out yet we led by 3 with 50 seconds left before losing in Denver.Personally, I no longer fear them when healthy.
Nice post Jaime. Jordan has 7 more games that he will be able to play as a two-way. I expect they will sign him after the last game because salaries are prorated and they will have to pay him less. That makes sense in case they would have to pick up a free agent because of injury they would have money left. I suspect it will be Cam because you just can’t have only one center. Now they might do the same with Tre, who they really like. He also only has around 7 games he can play. They really like him and that’s when you might see Len cut. If they wait until both run out of games and then sign them, they still would have enough money to pick up a free agent in an emergency.
I wouldn’t say we are doomed but if Lebron is going to miss significant time, we really need Rui back. His strength and scoring ability helps make up for Lebron. DFS is a very good perimeter defender but as we have been seeing he is not the scorer that Rui is, nor does he have the same strength as Rui. Without both Lebron and Rui, it will be difficult to defend the Joker the same way we did last time.
Aloha Jamie, nice post. I also this team will be hard to guard. Once Austin shakes off the rust and Rui returns, how do you defend that? Two of the best passes ever to play and can drop 30 themselves on any given night along with a third playmaker in Reeves and Rui a 3 level scoring will be a headache.
As for Jax, I definetly want to keep him. We are over the tax line so we can’t use the bi-annual on him but we do have early bird rights so we cango over the cap and actually pay him a little more than the bi-annual. I still want to add another center to the rotation. Capella might be had for the mini MLE and I would sign him. It wouldn’t matter which started. Then sign Tre as the third center. That would be a solid center rotation without giving up any assets. I agree, this team does not need an expensive center. Just a decent rotation.
The one thing i am concerned with is JJ’s fondness for a nine man rotation. The way we are playing takes a lot of energy. I think he would be better served going 10, maybe even 11 deep when Goodwin returns, at least for the rest of the regular season. We have the players to do it.
