    • Very similar clutch gene. They have the guts to shoot it from anywhere…this one is really interesting because I think Quick has seen something on film he thinks he can unlock in Trae. And two, I mean ATL got Sharife Cooper and Jalen Johnson…they’re gathering nuts 🌰 🥜 for another team’s disgruntled star.

      • I could almost see the Lakers bring in some former players who want to get into coaching. You wonder if the reference they made to looking for a former player to be an assistant referred to somebody else and not to Jared.

    • The interesting thing about Kobe’s birthday is that it falls on 08/23 instead of 08/24 which would have matched his Jersey numbers 8 and 24. That’s eeriely almost like a missed free throw.

    Heading for a divorce

One thing I do know for sure is Vogel has a serious jigsaw puzzle to deal with when it comes to sorting out his rotation this season. What I am also seeing in the makeup of this roaster is the meticulous plan and attention given to the marathon season by having insurance at the five. There is no way I would expect AD to play the five throughout the season even though it is our best option. There will also be certain matchups that will not work in his favor. So to prepare for those situations is where I count on our traditional centers. After all, we had success with that formula in the bubble. The only question I have is are we going to settle for three centers? That part hasn’t been clear yet. Hopefully, we will find out sooner rather than later.

    • I realize there are some (Jamie, Spencer Young, other NBA aficionados) think that Philly and Simmons have to co-exist because trading him wouldn’t net commensurate value in return…

    • In the podcast I did with Gerald last night I list the Ben Simmons as the last big unsettled this off season. Yes, Memphis and it’s 20 player roster is up there, as well, but this could be seismic in it’s implications.

Who is going to blink first? Trader Daryl and lower his (outlandish, dare I say…) demands on what a return for Ben Simmons should look like?

Another team that acquiesces and empties the cupboard for a guy who can’t shoot and was a liability in the playoffs?

Ben SImmons and return to the fold. Haven’t seen this scenario unfold since Kawhi and San Antonio had a stand off over his quad injury.

      • Looking at the Grizzlies one has to wonder if they’re not assembling some kind of low-grade package of young guys/picks to make a run at Simmons? Hard to see why though…

        • It’s funny back in 2016 Brandon Ingram was looked as some kind of consolation prize behind Simons. Personally I never felt that way. Now it’s apparent that BI was the top prize, with Jaylen Brown of the Celtics a close 2nd.

          • I heard all the hype about this dude coming outta AUS but when I finally saw him play at LSU it wasn’t very impressive. That continues to be the case.

    • If I’m the sixers I can’t have this dude back in the locker room. He played scared at the worst possible time…that shit ain’t easily forgotten or forgiven. You can deal with not being able to shoot from outside or the free throw line but you can’t lose your aggressiveness and play with fear. Just look at Giannis.

So…here’s a myth breaker: Every great baller makes the HOF Part 1/2

errr..you’d be incorrect. And plenty of uneducated has been or never was AM Radio/Social Media Jockie’s have these banal, lame-ass takes and this one is at the top of the list.

The other question to test basic knowledge of the game: Is Andre Drummond a good basketball 🏀 player in 2021? If the answer is ‘yes’ please do the following:

Awkward Bart Simpson GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

As for great 👍 😊 😌 players, they don’t all make the HOF. Case in point are 4 prime cases to shine a light on a blithering, dumb generalization.

Case #1 Tom Chambers & Antawn Jamison.

Chambers played 16 years amassed over 20,000 points. He’s one of 29 players to score 60+ points in a game. Among retired players, only Chambers and David Thompson are not in the HOF. x4 All-Star. Lived up to being #8 as a Lottery Pick in 1981.

    Belongs in the HOF

Antawn Jamison, Ironically accumulates over 20,000 points in a 16 year career (Chambers played 16 seasons). Also, has a distinction of being 1of 2 players to score over 20.000 points and not elected in the HOF.

Now, it’s the Basketball HOF. Not the NBA. So let’s examine both Chambers and Jamison’s resumes outside of the NBA.

Jamison’s #33 is retired by the Tar Heels. He was named the Naismith player of the year and was a x3 All-ACC First-Team. And the year before he was a McDonald’s All-American. Selected to College Basketball HOF in 2021. Has also competed for USA 🇺🇸 Internationally.

Antawn checks all the boxes ☑️☑️☑️☑️☑️for the HOF. Meets criteria.

This one is truly confounding, inexplicable and easily remedied. Yet, it remains just hanging out there like a big turd 💩 in the wind 💨.

    https://youtu.be/tbFR8sXz_gc

Tom Chambers, was a 2nd and 1st team WAC in his Junior and Senior year with the Utah Utes. He was part of a team that made the Tournament 3 times in 4 years, including Sweet Sixteen twice.

Seems to me, both of these men also exhibited the seven (7) tools of effective NBA Players aka “Batman Belt”

    1. Hustle

    2. Ball Handling

    3. Passing

    4. Shooting

    5. Athleticism

    6. Height

    7. Skill

Right now, the NBA doesn’t have a Vet Committee to help overseer glaring errors in what constitutes a HOF resume. Either these men earned their place or they deserve restitution for years of being overlooked.

Excellent article by Jacob Rude for Silver Screen and Roll. Comes down to how smart the LeBron and Russ are as players and how willing are all three Lakers superstars to sacrifice for the good of the team.
