S&T players minimum have to be 3 years. Can be 4.

This 2/25 for Kyle is what he would get in Free agency.

These are not to be conflated.

If Miami or Philly or Lakers S&T Lowry it’d be for 3 yrs min…

Media is conflating the two. There two very different on-ramps.

If you signed and traded Lowry it’d have to be 3 yrs min...

    • Christian Wood S&T 3 year deal…Matthew Dellavedova S&T (inexplicably 4 yr deal) lol…

    • Good point, Sean. Thanks.

That actually helps because the Lakers could probably get him to agree to a 3- year $60 million deal, which makes it easier to handle the hard cap. $20M/year vs. $25M/year.

    • Honestly I don’t see Lowry being the guy to elevate this team. The grainy truth here is that, barring cooperation from the likes of Schroder, Gasol, Harrell et al we’re stuck with this roster for the most part. Need to hit some vet minimum gold, 2 way gold and maybe even draft gold. Any/all of the above is just as likely as finding a perfect S&T scenario.

3 years and what if Lowry’s decline this season wasn’t just the result of being shut down because the playoffs were playoffs were out of reach? Like magicman said: Nash 2.0.

    • This is what always happens in the playoffs. The physicality ramps up, the legs are tired from the grind of the season and the three’s don’t fall. Could be pressure on a guy who canned a high % in the regular season but now the lights are a little brighter, stakes a lot higher and that shot drops off a cliff.

Just wait until analytics tells us that, in boxing, you should only throw haymakers at 33 degree angle in order to maximize KO potential. Some of this is getting to levels of absurdity only media juggernauts can appreciate. The great ones understand the value of short term gains in the face of waiting for the wonder shot to land/fall through the net.

    • Yup. Watching this Clipps/Suns series with my nephew (the family disappointment) and talking about how much the Clipps are missing Kawhi’s mid-range game when the 3’s aren’t dropping. They switched up last night and pounded the paint for 58 points tho..

      • “nephew (the family disappointment) ” lol, there’s hope man!

Have to admit I’m pulling for both Zubac and Boogie, I have a soft spot for those two big lugs and you won’t see me kicking dirt if they win a ring or at least make the NBA Finals. Gotta admit, the Clips showing a lot more grit than last season. Ty Lue making his coin, man.

    • It’s really the long two that is the shot teams shouldn’t take, 17 feet to the 3-point line. Solid 10-15 foor midrange shots are gold for players like Chris Paul, Paul George, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard as they were for Kobe Bryant and lots of stars from earlier eras.

      • Antwan Jamison won’t make the HOF and he scored over 20,000 pts mostly from mid-range. Same with Tom Chambers…they shouldn’t be forgotten because it’s not in vogue.

        • Funny thing is Chambers was the best in-game dunker in the 80s not Jordan…His mid-range for a PF was similar to LaMarcus Aldridge efficiency…He’s also one of the (5) Power Forwards to make over 200+ 3pt shots prior to the 1994-1995 season. He should be in the HOF but it’s a popularity contest more than a historical imprint. Sad.

Teams that can offer Portland the Price Point

These teams are ranked in Tiers:

    Tier 1: Picks and Players

Tier 1: Raps, Bulls, Sixers, Hawks

Tier 2: Mavs, Nuggets, Warriors, Clippers

Tier 3: Heat, Lakers, Thunder, Magic

    • Obviously teams like Thunder and Magic present themselves as opportunistic when these deals come up. If Presti or Weltman (As Chuck called him “the nerd”) can offer a sweetener for the chance to obtain a young controllable player…sure…they would. I’d bet dollars to donuts one of them actually will.

    • I don’t see why Portland wouldn’t wait for at least a big chunk of the season to go through, see what they can do to augment the line up and give Billups a shot to make it all work well. Same thing for Myles Turner, IMO, these teams are not free agent destinations so guys who make an impact and are under contract for any length of time are precious commodities to them. Both teams just got new coaches, both teams have some ancilliary pieces that could re-sign or move on thus giving them a chance to tweak the roster with high level talent dudes under contract through next season and beyond (Myles could be a trade deadline topic, he’s only got one year left after this one on his deal).

Feels like a lot of this “news” is just the early onset of the dog days in markets where no playoffs are happening prior to the Summer games.

      • This 👆👆👆👆Yup. Let it burn 🔥 out! If I were the Blazers I’d have the media go for an hour w/questions when they introduce him and let them go nuts and they should be go mute 🤫 for a while.

    • Ty made excellent adjustment to go small against Ayton and big against Saric and PG was unstoppable. Regardless, there’s no team in the league with as many despicable players as the Clipps. May they crumble and choke.

    • It was adjustments, yo Doc, it was adjustments.

    • T.Lue has been the best coach in this post-season and it really ain’t that close. Clipps will ultimately lose without Kawhi but it won’t be due to the coaching. Good to see him proving that he was more than just Lebron’s assistant.

Hammon impressed Portland officials and was generally liked among Blazers staffers, sources said. But when Portland reached out for intel from San Antonio figures, the background on Hammon was not nearly as complimentary pertaining to various aspects of day-to-day coaching responsibilities. That sentiment has been echoed by sources around the league. Blazers personnel then cast doubt that Hammon was the candidate to steer the ship through such delicate waters with Lillard.
