DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry are reportedly interested in joining the Lakers, per @BA_Turner pic.twitter.com/QGTkL1hUFq

I wouldn’t mind DeRozan if we had the 3-point shooting of Lowry but the problem is Lowry would hard cap us so that it would be difficult to add DeRozan unless we give up Caruso and THT. And we would not have enough room under the hard cap to add a 3&D small forward to help balance the shooting.
That’s why LeBron to the 4 and AD to the 5 is so important as it eliminates the non-shooting center and allows you to include a great midrange jump shooter like DeMar because you can still surround him with 3-point shooters, including LeBron and AD.
It’s the same logic I use to support trading for Westbrook. In this case, since it’s not a S&T, we can still go out and add a couple of elite 3-point shooters like Hield and McDermott to offset Russ’ lack of gravity from deep.

NBA Free Agency Rumors: DeMar DeRozan & Kyle Lowry Have Interest In Joining Lakers https://t.co/9SswMvibSH via @lakersnation
— LakerTom (@LakerTom) July 23, 2021
DeRozan, who starred at Compton High and USC, has interest in returning home to play for the Lakers, even if it is for less than the $27.7 million he earned last season in San Antonio, according to people not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
Though the Lakers didn’t acquire Lowry at the trade deadline, he remains interested in joining them, according to people with knowledge of his situation.
…
While there is a path to the Lakers bringing in both Lowry and DeRozan, it certainly won’t be easy considering the Lakers’ lack of cap space.
If they want to sign Lowry then it likely would come via a sign-and-trade with the Raptors, potentially involving Schroder and others. That would hard-cap the Lakers though, leaving them basically forced to fill out the roster with minimum players.
They would have one mid-level exception to hand out, however, which would likely go to DeRozan in this scenario. Turner mentioned that DeRozan would be willing to take a pay cut to play for his hometown Lakers, but going from making $27.7 million to $5.7 million is a giant one so it remains to be seen if he’s willing to do that.
There’s no doubt that adding both Lowry and DeRozan, or even just one of them, would put the Lakers firmly back in the championship picture, so it will be interesting to see what Rob Pelinka is able to pull off this summer to make it happen. Pelinka is known for taking big swings since taking over the Lakers’ front office, and this would certainly categorize as another one.
-
This is the first report I have heard of Kyle being interested in joining the Lakers. That is great news. Lakers would hardcap to get Kyle, who would give them a Big Three to challenge the Nets.
Lowry:
17.2/5.4/7.3
43.6/39.6/87.5%
2.8 3PM per 7.2 3PA-
The big question is what would each be willing to play for. I can’t see a path for anything more then 40 mil combined with sign and trades involved. And would Pop even trade with the Lakers. Derosen would have to be willing to play for the full MLE. Although Pop did have some nice things to say about Kuz before he got hurt on the USA team. Raptors would be easier. Lowery has meant a lot to the team and they might make it easy for him. We have Dennis and maybe Trez to move in trades even if it’s too a 3rd team. So there are paths but it wouldn’t be easy.
-
-
-
Whole lotta moving parts in that thing and a gigantic paycut for DeRozan. I won’t hold my breath on this one…
-
There’s nothing easy about this offseason so it’s good when you hear guys want to join the Lakers. The only way DeRozan would fit on this team is if they had an elite high volume 3-point shooter like Lowry and hopefully another at the 3 or 2 if DeRozan plays the 3.
DeMar is a Compton High kid who’s on the downside of his career and missed the championships with the Spurs and Raptors. He might take a huge discount to join the Lakers and win a ring. Next few seasons could be dominated by the Lakers and Nets.
-
-
If both want to play together it’s either in New York or they have to take major paycuts. The Lakers would have to toss the roster out the window for this to work and then re build it with vet min guys. Feels highly unlikely but I suppose it could happen. I think it far more likely these 2 take a paycut than Chris Paul does. The President of the Players Union ain’t throwing money back at the owners, the optics would be awful and he’s fought for a lot of the mechanisms in the modern CBA for too long. Having said that, the allure of a title is strong and Chris’s clock has to be ticking loudly in his ears.

The Qualifying Offer for Talen Horton-Tucker is $1,897,476.
The Lakers have early bird rights and can sign him up to a contract that projects to start at $10.4M.
The contract must be for a minimum of 2 seasons.
— Bobby Marks (@BobbyMarks42) July 22, 2021
-
Other teams can give him a poison pill contract that is first two years for around $10M and then two years at max for a 4-year $84 million offer. Lakers can match if they want.
Since THT is a Klutch client, the Lakers wouldn’t try and S&T THT unless it was for a great contract on a team where he is a good fit. Same as with Trezz, another Klutch client.
-
True but if he doesnt take a big step forward they’re stuck with that pill. Not saying its not possible but it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.
-
-
10mill is a good haul for THT considering his limited experience on the court. Hopefully nobody goes crazy and makes a ridiculous offer causing us to lose him. Really wanna keep him & AC here at around that price. Decent value.
-
One of the benefits of a triple S&T like the Lowry (S&T) for Schroder (S&T), THT (S&T), and Kuzma is that it can often lead to the players being signed-and-traded for each side are able to get a little more higher salaries as a result.
In this deal, you have Lowry who wants the Lakers to pay him close to $25M and Schroder who wants the same from the Raps and THT who’s a Klutch client and should get compensation for being traded over $10M.

Good to see Pistons finally get some good luck. No way they’re not going to draft Cade. Future superstar.

SVG is the reason the timber’s of a rebuild have to chucked up and restarted. He didn’t play Spencer and gave up on him..They gave up developing Middleton…Baynes, both Morris twins, etc. traded or walked, organization clutter in player development. Hopefully 🙏 they surround him with talented players eventually.

I just finished ✅ completing a transition to another line of work. It has nuances and some can be troublesome some can be cumbersome some can be somber…I find having moments of contentment might be fleeting like Penguins 🐧 sliding down a snow ❄️ hill busting moves in the harshness of Antarctica…
Life’s brief moments of joy are worth all the bullshit. All the pain. All the disappointment a person can take. Beautiful thing!

Toughest dude on the floor gonna be CP3, but the matchups favor the Bucks, and Holiday is a great defender against Chris. If CP can find that gear to dominate 4 outta 7, then they’ve got a shot. I don’t think he will. Basketball reasons will forever haunt that dude. He should’ve for sure refused to report to the Clips and the Lakers should’ve challenged Stern’s ability to do what he did by all means possible. Had it all go down like it was agreed to, he’d have multiple rings and Kobe’s career would’ve likely ended much differently. Damn sliding doors.

Zach Lowe: ‘I think both the L.A. teams are going to be sniffing around Kemba Walker’ https://t.co/Y4CwVvyGDb

The problem with going after Kemba Walker is he makes $36 million, which means the Lakers would need to include both KCP and Kuzma to even get close to matching salaries, leaving no trading chips other than their free agents to upgrade any other position.
Going after Dinwiddie creates a different problem, which is he is looking for the same level of money as Schroder ($25M/Year) and suffers some of the same problems as Dennis, namely he can’t even shoot 30% from deep and has an assist-to-turnover ratio of only 2.17. You would have to send Kuzma and KCP, our only two tradeable contracts of any size, in order to match salaries.
The Lakers need to fill both guard spots, ideally by trading KCP for one one guard and Kuzma for the second guard. Can’t do that when the guard makes $36M or even $25M as Kuzma and KCP only earn $13M. Lakers need to make Schroder and Harrell trading chips.

Clipps gotta figure out a way to pay that dude. He wants to stay there but he has to secure the bag too. Ballmer has more money than the rest of the owners combined..can’t get cheap now.
-
Probably limited to full MLE like the Lakers and other teams over the cap. I think Reggie may get bigger offers than that based on how he played. Shot over 40% on over 7 threes per game.
-
-
Early Bird will allow them to pay him 105% of the MLE or around $10M and most of the 8 teams with more cap space than that aren’t really contenders willing to pay an older player like Jackson that much so chances are good he will sign with a contender for the full MLE. I would suspect he would be the Clippers top priority even though he did not play well for them until the playoffs. Be interesting if the Lakers offered him a chance to play with LeBron and AD and win a ring. Might interest him.

Dennis gonna fire his agent when that payday doesn’t come knocking on the door. IT was looking for the Brinks truck, never showed up. Schroeder ain’t nearly as good as a healthy IT was…

Good move..CP3 wasn’t even mad..in game 5 either. DAWG recognize DAWG. Pat Bev does some dumb shit but like JVG said, he wouldn’t even be in the league if he was any different.

‘F’ Pat Beverley. He’s a dirty, cheap shot, bush league player whom I would never want on any team I rooted for. Someday, somebody’s going to get seriously hurt by his antics and someday, karma’s going to bite him big right in his mfing ass. And there will be a lot of people cheering when that happens. He’s piece of shit loser for whom I have zero respect.
-
Always have to commend folks for doing the right thing. Without compassion there can be no growth. Patrick has some demons left over from his early years on planet Earth. He’s fortunate to have the NBA, hence my suggestion he get with MWP who really toned down his antics as his career wound on for the better. It can be done. It should be encouraged more.
