The Wizards won’t extend a qualifying offer on F Isaac Bonga, making him an unrestricted free agent, sources tell ESPN. Wizards need roster spots after taking on three players in Westbrook trade.

The Wizards and Kings are NOT interested in a Dennis Schroder sign-and-trade, per @ZachLowe_NBA pic.twitter.com/K90MQpaxfT

All that could change once the point guard musical chairs games starts when Kyle Lowry Sweepstakes begin. The question is will Dennis have a team when the music starts. To begin with, he and his agent are not going to burn any bridges because they may need the Lakers to get paid.
-
Hard to see any of this changing especially with the Bullets now being linked to a s&t for Dinwiddie. I hate to see anybody shoot themselves in the foot and cost themselves money but Dennis made a really bad miscalculation when he turned down that extension.

There’s reportedly 'significant interest' from DeMar DeRozan to forgo higher salary opportunities elsewhere and join the Lakers in pursuit of a championship, per @JakeLFischer pic.twitter.com/hARjbjkjX6

Looks like there’s going to be some heavy competition to get the Lakers $5.9M MLE. Lakers desperately need 3-point shooters so I think DeMar is still a long shot but who knows. There’s definitely a universe where I’d love to see what a team with Russ, Buddy, DDR, LeBron, and AD could accomplish. Just not this one though.

Blanket statement – I don't expect a Dennis S&T. But it could organically grow and if he and Chicago want to work together, there's fertile ground if the Lakers and Bulls wanted to do something out. Today no, on Aug 2 when players start to land, perhaps something evolves. https://t.co/wXJwMMRiMR

If the Wizards wanted Dennis, this at least is somewhat more reasonable than the Buddy questions. I heard Washington isn't a suitor however. Now your'e back relying on a third team – the one DS chooses and needing/wanting a S&T. All of it, IMO, is fantasyland at this time, TBD https://t.co/q1BXY8Y6S1

Getting Buddy Hield requires the Lakers to get him to agree to sign with the Kings or some 3rd team…
-
Dennis Schroder is a UFA, the Lakers don’t get to tell him where he goes…Dennis gets to dictate where he goes…

We’ll find out more on Monday, Sean. There’s still a good valid pathway to Dennis Schroder agreeing to a sign-and-trade should the point guard musical chairs end up with none of the team who have cap space signing Dennis and him needing the Lakers to sign-and-trade him to a team that doesn’t have cap space to sign him. Even Pincus says this is a possibility but prefers to address it if and when it happens.
Right now, there are several point guard prospects that are more attractive than Schroder, even assuming Paul and Conley re-sign with the Suns and Jazz. Here are the free agent point guards that Hollinger ranks over Dennis Schroder:
Kyle Lowry
Lonzo Ball
Devonte Graham
Spencer Dinwiddie
T.J. McConnell
Alex Caruso
Kendrick NunnCheaper options that could be much cheaper:
Derrick Rose
Goran Dragic
Patty MIllsHere are the teams with cap space:
New York Knicks
San Antonio Spurs
OKC Thunder
Dallas Mavericks
Miami Heat
Toronto Raptors
Charlotte Hornets
Memphis GrizzliesSure looks to me like there are a lot more quality free agent point guards than there are quality landing spots with quality teams. I can easily envisioin a situation where Dennis NEEDS the Lakers to sign-and-trade him in order to find a landing spot with a salary anywhere close to what he is looking for. I mean, have you even heard of a single rumor of an NBA team interested in signing Dennis Schroder. There is zero interest right now in Dennis and he did little to help his case in the playoffs.
Jury’s still out and the key to being able to see the forest and not just the trees is having facts at hand to honestly evaluate the situation rather than just unbridled emotion. Chances are high that Dennis will need the Lakers to sign-and-trade him in order to get paid. Touche!

You keep saying the Lakers can still acquire Hield, but you’re not suggesting how/why they can other than…Lakers gonna Laker…
-
Make it simple: the Lakers have no bullets left in the gun to get him…the Kings have Halliburton, De’Aron Fox, Davion Mitchell, Terence Davis and Kyle Guy and Delon Wright…if they’re not interested in anything we have, explain how you’re going to get them to deal from a position of strength to just giving away a 3pt shooter?

I think the Bulls would be the one team we could work something out with. There has been a lot talk about the Bulls moving Markannen for a point guard. We could find a 3rd team for him because we can’t take a s/t player back. My fantasy trade would be sending him to the TWOLVES for Malik Beasley. The TWolves have a glut of guards and zero power forwards. Markannen a floor stretching PF would be the perfect compliment to Towns. With Edwards looking like a sure fire star at the 2, Beasley would be coming off the bench. Beasley shot the 3 better then Buddy the last 2 years and he is a better defender.
-
-
The key is if Markannen signs an offer sheet with another team. If he does, then the Bulls can match but, they can’t trade him. So that’s a complication that makes it difficult. Still you never know what can happen this time of year.

I would love Rudy and Melo in P&G, both can hit shots and like magicman said Rudy has another gear on D.

They also gave him as much 💵as he wanted…while defending him to the hilt until Game 5 against Philly…Then by the grace of God Doc had his Road to Damascus moment…”Well I don’t know now”…

Reactions are more telling actually…So yeah right now we have the spacing of a suitcase 🧳 out there…
-
We have 3 scorers on the roster, that’s a big positive…because when we needed a 3rd scorer last year, Schroder didn’t grab the opportunity by the balls 🏀 (figurative and literally)…
-
On top of that, for all Kuzma and Caruso running their mouths 👄 about intensity…they thought they were cooking 🧑🍳 with fire 🔥…The intensity shown with injuries was lukewarm at best…

The right vets will solve the spacing. Keep ‘Kieff, keep Wes, try and wrangle Rudy and Melo. Keep THT and AC one as building block, trade chip the other for defense and glue. Schroeder will either sign elsewhere and no big whoop at this point or we’ll S&T him for a player under contract. Don’t see that as being Buddy or from a team like Charlotte. Where would Schroeder want to play? Midwest has some germanic vibes, New York, but who would we want that’s already under contract? Miami for Dragic? Maybeeeee…
-
There should be no question now where LeBron and AD are going to play. The trade for Westbrook is a massive winner just for getting LeBron and AD willing to change positions.
Enough with the doubters and naysayers who claimed there was no way AD was going to play the five. No disrespect to Russ, but the Lakers’ biggest move this offseason is AD to the five.
