    • So looks like Pels will just let him walk…My guess is Lauri Markannen ends up with the Spurs or Raps or Thunder

    • Interesting. NOLA has some picks they could use to entice the Bulls into a S&T if there’s anyone they’re interested in. Also, sometimes you just let a dude walk and free up the money flow.

@magicman – agree on the Spurs or Raps as a likely destination for LM, fits in with their style of play pretty well and could also seemingly use a change of scenery.

    • Another team, who wouldn’t be willing to give Kings assets, plus make the Lakers better…James Dolan would never do this. NEVER…not to mention Knicks can sign him outright.

      • Remember here’s the scenario: Rob Pelinka would have to spend time (wastefully) recruiting a 4th team…and not only that…he’d have to recruit players for the Kings because they have no depth and players the Kings want…plus…That 4th is also wasting their time because they have moves to make in Free Agency…

        • Too many cooks in the kitchen here. And we know the Kings front office could burn corn flakes. 😂 Not gonna happen.

          • I agree, it’s highly unlikely that we could swing a deal to land Buddy. That said it’s still possible we could get a return on Dennis in a sign and trade. While the Knicks have shown interest in Dennis, they have also shown interest in Lowery and Lonzo. With the Bulls and Derek Rose looking to possibly reunite, the Knicks could very well go after Lowery. Dennis could easily find himself needing the Lakers to help him in a sign and trade. Dennis isn’t going to get what he is looking for but he is a quality back up point guard that many teams wouldn’t mind having. Can we get a star for Dennis? probably not but we might be able to land a decent role player for him.

            • Thanks for responding Michael, and glad you’re posting regularly again…If Rob is offered compensation that’d be a boon. 100% agreed. My concern would be him making it a frontal lobe issue, which it isn’t obviously..

            • If you had it on the back burner and got something, more power to ya. I just think Schroder has been selfish to a degree where it’s harmed us, Michael…Remember that old farming saying “Hogs get fat, pigs get slaughtered.”

            • Sessions thought he had the Lakers over a barrel as well, and when the Lakers traded for Nash, Sessions never played more than 30 MPG again. He had a couple years in Charlotte, a cup of coffee for NYC and Wash. Sometimes you fly too close to the Sun.

        • In terms of Rob spending time recruiting another team he has had the last couple of days to formulate a stratagem. My thinking is that nobody is looking at Dennis Schroeder and saying “20 million? You got it dude!” There’s not one thing he did last season, or even in his career frankly, that deserves putting him that echelon of players. That’s Fred VanVleet territory and that ain’t Dennis:
-not a team guy, let the team down twice by having to enter into NBA H&SP.
          -complete no-show in the playoffs
-couldn’t elevate his game when he both had the ball in his hands and no other ball-dominant superstars to soak up possessions from him.
-didn’t really even make other guys better as he turns it over a ton and then issues weak azz mea culpa’s to the media while feuding with Kuzma. Ridiculous.

The dude is worth 15 mil, tops, and is best used off the bench against lesser talents. Not seeing that opinion of mine changed any time soon.

If the Knicks want him and don’t want to deal anything to us (understandable), more power to them. Only way I see that happening is if they know Rose isn’t planning on returning though. IQ may not be ready for prime time as a starter but is a capable back-up and Dennis doesn’t strike me as the guy willing to sacrifice the title of his position to be the off-guard.

I suppose the biggest question is what would it take for the Knicks to trade him to us for a room exception? One of the first rounders we just got in the Russ trade methinks.

    • Dennis did over estimate his value. He didn’t have the kind of year that justifies the kind of money he was looking for. Still, he’s a quality 6th man. My hope is there is a team out there that want to add him in that role but don’t have the cap space. I would like to get a useful player in return.

      • Despite all the rancor and bitterness engulfing Dennis, I still think we use him as a sixth man if he agrees. His underwhelming performance in the playoffs has to do with Covid which was his fault, but there is an upside to him we could use.

        • I’d prefer Cory Jo myself. Won a ring with the Spurs, played well in TO and Indy…has Klutch ties and to me is a pure floor general.

        • Aloha Bubba, I thought of that myself. I m always in favor of retaining talent when possible, he’s been in the conversation for 6th man of the several times. But the question now is fit. As it’s pointed out they will stagger Russ and LeBron, I believe Alex will be back and he and LeBron have great chemistry with Alex at the point. So Russ will probably be running the 2nd unit a lot. So do you spend the money on Dennis or like Magicman suggested bring in a guy like Joseph to fill in the blanks. Honestly THT who I also believe will be back can handle the point for short periods of time. I’m hoping that we can land useful player with Dennis in a sign and trade.

    • lol, I can broken record on this topic all day, every day. Dennis will regret not taking that extension we offered him. When there’s one team bargaining against nobody that doesn’t mean you have the leverage, Mr. Schroeder. That’s what’s known as being over a barrel with no lu-well, let’s keep it family friendly.

Also hard to see why the Knicks would acquiesce to a S&T for anything we would be willing to part with. In reality, because we are not going the hard-cap route, makes just as much sense to watch him walk out the door. Maybe the Knicks would be willing to give us a room exception, at best, if we entice them with some draft picks? I’ve long been in favor of that as much, if not moreso, than bringing in a player under contract. Make it a lot easier to keep THT and AC.

      Aesop’s Fable:
The Hawk said: “I should indeed have lost my senses if I should let go food ready to my hand, for the sake of pursuing birds which are not yet even within sight.” A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Drafting is one of the most crucial elements of a successful long-term franchise. Fueled by a series of great draft picks, the San Antonio Spurs went on to make the playoffs for a record-tying 22 seasons while winning five championships in the process. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Sacramento Kings are currently riding a 14-year playoff drought — the second longest in NBA history. Unsurprisingly, this analysis ranks them among the teams least successful at drafting.

    • Ya know he can’t shoot so…lol…

      • That is one of the more tiresome points people make in regards to Russ’ game. Neither could Rondo or LeBron at first. The great ones can impact the game. Unlike Dennis Schroeder who cannot find a way except to mess his own, and thereby others, situation up.

    • Simmons going to Portland makes little to no sense other than on paper…Ben would clog the lane in the half-court. He’s a transition PG and a half-court Point Forward…that requires specific skill sets to accent his impact…not all great teams have that…

      • Siakim gives the Blazers half-court and transition offense a facelift. Doesn’t need 25 shots a game. Has structure in his dribble drive game. He’s a great #2

    • I am of the opinion that bringing Dennis back as a sixth man would be a good idea despite all the hostility surrounding him. I had even brought up this question in one of the newer posts above. I agree there are many options at the guard position but we could use some of his upsides.
