If THT is slated for rotation time this year we may have a log jam at back up small forward. Does Kuz play more at the 4 instead or do we move someone in order to sign Morris for further depth there? I suppose with the flexibility of Kuz to play multiple positions and Harrell able to play at the 4 and 5, we could just stand pat. What’s next in an amazing off season?
PG: SCHRODER, Caruso
SG: KCP, Matthews
SF: LEBRON, Kuzma, THT, McKinnie
PF: DAVIS, Morris???, Dudley
C: GASOL, Harrell, Bell-

I’d be very interested to see an NBA team that consistently used a dynamic approach to the starting line up, based on match ups, rest needed, hot hand, etc. This Laker team has the depth and flexibility of talent to do it … I think.

I’ve always loved the idea, especially at point guard since LeBron will have the ball a lot of the time, of changing the starter based on the matchup. If the opponent has a small quick point guard, Schroder starts. If it’s a team with a bigger point guard like Simmons or elite wing scorer like Harden, then maybe Matthews would start. Probably won’t happen except in the Finals but it does make good sense. I could even see it applied to shooting guard and center. If we play Denver, the Gasol on Jokic makes sense. There could be matchups where Harrell could be unstoppable. Fun idea.

Hey, Darryll,
I think Kuz is most effective at the 3 and will see time defensively at the 2 where he defends well vs. the 4 where he doesn’t have enough in his back pocket.
We still need Morris for his shooting and defense at the 4. He is the next priority.
I like your starting lineup. It’s how I would go although I could see Vogel running back last year’s starting lineup with Matthews replacing Green and Gasol replacing McGee.
For closing, I like:
PG: Caruso
SG: KCP
SF: Matthews
PF: LeBron
CE: AD
What would be fun is changing the starting guard duo based on the matchup we’re playing. Small quick point guard, it’s Schroder, Bigger wing scorer, it’s Matthews.
That really makes a lot of sense.
