just what I thought. That was a funny when talking about KL and PG sitting out. I think Clipps made a terrific move grabbing Harden. They are going all in this year. Seems like we always think the guys we have are better than they usually are. : (

This team is weak! Vincent and Reaves were worthless and Prince couldn’t hit a shot that counts. LeBron was all that, cept 8 TO’s. Please Doc Rivers is waiting!

we OVERPAID AD. Who else would have offered more than $40 Mil for 3 years? BIG gamble if he turns up injured again. His healing time is weeks and months, not days usually. I dunno?

Sorry, Dave. Lakers were smart to sign AD to extension. When that contract starts two years from now, those numbers will be great bargains and all of the new contracts will start at $50M.
And if the Lakers wanted to trade AD, there would be a long line of teams wanting to get him. He will restore himself as a top five players next season. In 4 years, he’s won 1 championship and 1 conf finals.

Actually it pretty much does Buba. Teams are broken into groups and they designate tournament games when play each other like they always do. Those games also count in the regular season standings. Only two teams that reach the tournament finals play one extra game that doesn’t count in the standings. So it’s pretty much done within the regular schedule with one added game for two teams. Winner wins 500k per player so you might actually see playoffs intensity in those designated tournament games.

Seems to be an attempt to spice up the beginning of the season. The money is a sweetener, but it’s chump change for the big boys. We’ll see, I guess.

Perhaps for AD and LeBron. For guys like Hayes, Reddish and Max, that’s like 25% of their salary. It’s a nice little Bonus for a guy like Prince who is making 4 mil. Even guys like Vincent and Austin who are receiving their first payday probably would welcome it as well.

Here’s the way they should do it.
Play about 60 games. Then pause the season for about 5 months. Then play the tournament and just call the winner the World Champs.

I think it’s fair. Ron Artest got suspended almost 100 games for fighting an arena, this wasnt illegal and it can’t be confirmed that wasnt a replica kr “toy” gun. Now we can argue that cols have shot kids for worse (they have) but the NBA isn’t a legal entity. It’s bad PR and I won’t be surprised if it gets reduced to 20.

And, regardless if it’s smart or no, most states allow folks to carry fire arms (w/a permit) and more than a few allow you to conceal it. What looks bad is how Denver is having a shooting/event. Everyone likes to diss on cities like Philly and LA but I can’t recall a city have a clean championship winning environment without either destruction of property or violence.

Possession of? Performance enhancing drugs carry an auto 20 game ban (I thiiiink) so likely between 20-30. Really this can only be compared to Arenas and Critter and their Washington Wizard OK Corral. I think GA got 50 for both carrying a firearm into the arena (illegal at the time in DC and subsequently mocking it on-court by making finger guns throughout a game. This was in a car, his prior incidents have never resulted in criminal charges (and this one won’t, either) and so it’s really just the NBA protecting its image.

Miles Bridges got 30 games following a felony domestic violence event (an actual crime he pleaded no contest to) he committed in front of his children against their mother…in front of them.
“According to Johnson’s hospital report which she posted to Instagram, she was an “adult victim of abuse by male partner” which included assault by strangulation, brain concussion, closed fracture of nasal bone, contusion of rib, multiple bruises, and a neck muscle strain.”
So…yeah…flashing a gun in your own car doesn’t seem quite the same and kinda hard to give him a longer suspension than what they just gave Bridges.
The biggest “crime” Ja commited in alotta folks’ eyes is that he lied to his overseer..oops..I mean employer…and didn’t toe the line as he was ordered to.

I think the thing most forget is that back in the early 2000’s the NBA had an image problem. It was beginning to be looked at as a thugs league and it was costing the league money. Remember the Jailblazers? The league worked hard to change that image. So whether it was illegal or not, the NBA is guarding that image that has led to the league being the most watched sporting event in the world. The new television deal is estimated to be 3 times greater than the last. This suspension is all about the image, all about the money.
