Good plan.
Interview all of the logical candidates.
Find the best experienced candidate.
Interview JJ last since no competition.
He needs to wow them in interview.
Show he can next Pat Riley.
Glad to see they’re bringing in Chris Quinn. If they really want the next Pat Riley then he’s probably the way to go. 9 years with Riles & Spo…2 of the best NBA coaches of all time who actually know how to build a culture.
It’s smart to interview all of those lead assistants. One of them could end up becoming a lead assistant on the Lakers under Redick, though that’s not something to broach until later.
Good also to see who of the assistants might have the ‘it’ factor besides J.J. Redick. There’s a huge gulf between being able to be a great head coach and great assistant coach.
So two great reasons to interview all of these guys. In the end, J.J. will have to wow the Lakers during his interview for them to take a gamble on him. Right now, sounds like it’s his job to lose though.
Oh..I don’t doubt that JJ is the frontrunner. Jeanie has a track record of making this type of bone headed hire. Just look at our GM as Exhibit A.
“There’s a huge gulf between being able to be a great head coach and great assistant coach”…there’s absolutely no indication that JJ can be either.
