Jamie Sweet says
Those Knickerbockers are on the cusp of something special and Julius Randle is a huge reason why. That team, if management doesn’t blow it, can be contending with another major piece (NY has a TON of picks they can toss in to sweeten any deal, cap space to spare now and lots of cap space coming this off season. They could facilitate a Houston rebuild with expiring deals for VO and some picks along with filler deals, not sure they’d want to surrender the players it would take to land a LaVine or Beal (if they’re even on the market) and, like all teams pretty much, need some dynamic playmaking and scoring. I called them as the 6th seed but with the right moves I could see them challenging for the 4 spot or higher if other teams in the east continue to flounder.
The eastern conference looks to be in buy mode in the coming weeks. Lot of teams doing well that have assets and cap space. Going to be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Agree 100% with you, Jamie. And great suggested topic by Sean, AKA Magicman for each of us to give our picks for 6th seed. I still love the idea of trading for Nerlens Noel as soon as Mitchell Robinson returns from injury. I think you’re right that Knicks can aim higher than 6th. My pick for 6th are the Hornets and Melo Ball.
My pick in the West is the Mavs, who are startling to play to their potential as Porzingis gets healthier and Luka gets back into game shape. Going to be some exciting races. The Play in tourney is also going to keep a lot of teams looking to win rather than tank. Great move the the NBA.

Some excellent discussion at the end of the podcast by Gerald, Jamie, Sean, and me about recent racial incidents in NBA against Asians and Jews. Gerald’s married an Asian woman and has two Asian daughters and my father was Chinese and my grandfather a coolie who came to America to work on the railroads and send money back home. Coolies were just another version of slaves.
