The guys from lakerholics.com are back as LakerTom, Jamie Sweet, “MagicMan” Sean Grice, and Gerald Glassford talk about the Marc Gasol trade sending the big man back to his longtime home in Memphis. Will this be the end of his storied career in the NBA? And what about the Lakers getting the rights to Chinese basketball center Wang Zhelin in return? Could he play someday for the team? Plus with Gasol now gone, the door opens up for the newest arrival DeAndre Jordan, but where do we see him contributing? And do we think the move was a good one for the Lakers? We talk about all of this and if we’re “bearing or balding” on the latest Lakers Fast Break podcast!

I thought this was one of the better recent podcasts. Great sprited conversation with Gerald, Jamie, and Sean. Take a listen and give us a 5 star review on Apple podcasts. Thanks.
Not a lot of love for DeAndre. In fact, i just published an article where I predicted him to be a DNP, even though I was in favor of replacing Marc with him because I prefer his rim protection and dunks over Marc’s reluctance stretch five role.
Big part for me is I believe having only Dwight and DeAndre makes it certain that AD is going to start and play most minutes at the five. That will be the difference maker for the Lakers’ regular season.
The regular season is where you work on your game and develop chemistry, experience, and figure out how to play your best. Thinking you can just switch it up when you get to the playoffs is a pipe dream. Only reason it worked for Lakers in the bubble is that LeBron and AD shot extremely well from midrange and deep, far better than ever before in the playoffs.
Lakers can’t count on that happening again. They need to work hard all season to fine tune their small ball attacks and hit the playoffs with a well tuned machine that will shut down the Nets.
