🚨Lakers current top two targets are Donovan Mitchell and Dejounte Murray. Paul George rumours aren’t true for now, neither is the LeBron Cleveland reunion. Lakers willing to let go of several pieces for that third guy next to LBJ/AD. First priority remains HC hire however.

Either would be great additions for Lakers.
I know the Knicks wanted him and he wanted the Knicks. But a couple of things have changed. Brunson has blown up into a superstar that thrives with the ball in his hand and the Knicks also picked up OG. If Randle and OG were healthy, that’s a true contender. The question for the Knicks have to answer is, with Brunson now an all NBA player does Mitchell fit? They would have to give up a lot to get him.
Michael, you are right. Why would the Knicks try to fix something that is not broken? With Randle and OG, they are definitely a contender, in my opinion.
Good point, Michael. I noticed that the Cavs gave up 3 unprotected picks and two unprotected swaps plus Markannen and two other good players.
If Lakers are serious about trading for Mitchell, they’re going to have to make those 3 picks and 3 swaps unprotected and include Reaves to have a chance.
Definitely helps if Knicks don’t pursue him. Lakers are better opportunity for championship for Donovan. At least, timing will let us find out late next month.
If we get a ‘no’ on Mitchell, I would then go after DeJounte Murray and pay what we have to. He c/b a better second option than DM because he makes $10M less than DM and $18M less than Trae Young.
Then we need a center. Lakers should consider Edey if he’s there at 17 and they don’t have a trade lined up. He could be perfect next to AD. Love to have him as primary defender on Joker.
The one thing that could help Tom, is if Mitchell says he will only sign an extension with the Lakers if the Knicks don’t pursue him. There is also the Nets but he wouldn’t have a chance at a ring with them.
Power of the expiring contract.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
If his goal is to get to The Finals it’s better to go to the #2 seed in the weaker conference than the #7 seed and have to run the gauntlet in the West.
The Knicks have to want him. If Randle and OG are healthy, that is a true contender. Would need to give up a lot to get him.
