This is bad news for the Lakers. There’s no way the Lakers can win the championship if LeBron James is not 100%. A recurrence of the groin injury that sidelined him last year is truly alarming. Lakers might be smart to shut him down until the playoffs start.
It doesn’t take much to figure the groin may be why LeBron has not been very explosive during the last four games. Groin injuries are the kind of nagging injuries that don’t heal overnight and greatly affect a player’s athleticism and explosiveness.
Best hope is that this is partly gamesmanship by the Lakers and that LeBron could have easily played but why exacerbate the team’s problems and confidence. Better to take the L and move on like these games don’t matter and the shooting will be fine once the playoffs start.
Tom, this might also be just a way to provide some load management for him. Similar to what the Clippers do for Kawhi and PG. You said one or both would be out last night on the podcast.
Thanks, Gerald. As I hinted in my above article, I hope it’s that plus a suble way for Frank to move Kuz into the starting lineup as the first step to be followed by moving AD to center to keep Kuz as a starter. Not as harsh as benching JaVale, who’s been good all year but is struggling badly now.

Needs to rest that groin. We will need him healthy for the playoffs.

The groin is what knocked him out last season. Could be why he’s not attacking the rim as usual too.
