Since we can’t trade DLO or Rui until Dec 15, both players will have a chance to show the Lakers they fill a valuable need.
Frankly, I think Rui has an opportunity to play himself into being untouchable. Dlo’s problem is good play just raises his trade value so he’s most likely gone. If the Lakers keep Rui and trade Dlo, then the likely targets would be Turner or Hield.
I am not in favor of either Levine or Trae. This team has plenty of offense. The Lakers were 6th in scoring last year. A mere 1.2 points behind number 2 Golden State. We were 18 in defense. After the trades we were the best defense in the league and it propelled us to the WCF. I’m not interested in one dimensional players. LaVine isn’t any better on the defensive end than DLo. He averaged 24 a game last year but on this team how much more would he score than DLO’s 18? As for Tre, might as well get him a stool so he can rest while we are on defense. For me I wouldn’t give up Rui and DLO for either.
I would be hesitant to trade Dlo and Rui for either Trae or Zach but would be willing to trade both of them for Turner and Hield but Lakers would have to include 2029 unprotected pick and a 2030 pick swap to get Pacers to do it. That’s the equivalent of two post LeBron top-5 picks.
