Aloha,
With the draft over, the next date that looms large is the 29th. This is the day that the Lakers have to decide what they are going to do wit Bamba and Beasley. I thought that there might be trades made during the draft. And of course there still could be. If I were one of our new rookies I would sign an apartment lease just yet.
Both Beasley and Mo could be waived. It’s a shame that this comes before the free agent period. The Lakers could at least get a feel for what free agents they could bring into the cap space. And I am SURE Rob isn’t talking to free agents reps. That’s not allowed in the NBA. Lol.
If Mo and Beasley were kept. That’s 27mil that could be used in trades. While Beasley could never get it going for the Lakers, I still see him as a good trade chip for a team that is in need of shooting. He has been solid before this last season and he is still only 26. Mo on the other had has never lived up to expectations and at 10.5 mil is over paid for what he has shown so far. Mo could be traded before the 29th and waived by the receiving team. So the Lakers have a few days.
If I were to guess I would say it’s 60-40 that they keep them. 26 mil in trade assets are valuable, especially since it’s broken into two contracts. And they need those expiring contracts in any kind of sign and trade deal that may arise. And with our limited cap space we probably could not sign anyone better than Beasley anyway. It’s going to be interesting to see what they do.
