I will say it’s a tenuous hold on that starting spot, at best. If he has another fairly ineffective 5-10 minutes in the 1st quarter, and definitely if we lose, I could see him getting benched in favor of Dwight.
While McGee has a slightly more expansive skill set (decent jumper, better passer, has the best cheering moves) Dwight is the better defender and probably the better scorer. So it’s not like we;re upending the apple cart or anything. JaVale did great during the regular season. This is a different one. But I’m personally glad he’s getting another crack at it. That’s how you treat a professional in any field. You give them a couple chances to stop blowing it.
