Dennis, would you prefer to slink out of town with your tail between your legs for a charity offer from the Celtics?
Or go to Rob and say you’re sorry and are willing to stay with the Lakers to back up Russ on a 1-year deal for $10M.
That’s a win-win situation for Lakers and Schroder.
Lakers get a backup PG and Dennis gets his Bird rights.
But depends on Dennis’ state of mind and acceptance.
Could only work if Dennis has his head on straight.

It’s funny LT because you were the one harping over and over about how Caruso would cost over 3 times as much to keep and the Lakers would NEVER blow the tax bill out of the water for him and now you’re turning around and advocating for this team-killer to return while blowing the tax bill out of the water?
Head scratching…

Not really, Jamie. Two things changed my mind.
The first was finding out that 5 teams were going to pay more luxury taxes than the Lakers, including the Bucks and Jazz. That’s criminal imo. Lakers should never be outspent. We should have spent that money on Alex.
The second was my realizing that we were going to go into the trade deadline with only THT and Nunn as trading chips unless we were able to get a player or trade exception.
I am a little worried about having too many guards and maybe having guys who are unhappy with their minutes or role. Right now, we’re fine at 12 imo. Adding Dennis or another player who will win minutes could upset that.
Here’s the interesting question I asked myself. In retrospect, would I have rather we kept Alex or Dennis. Based on our treatment of them, both would have been trading chips but I think Dennis’ $10M w/b an underpay while Alex’s $10M was probably an overpay. Comes down to scoring over defense.

I could understand going deeper into LT hell for Caruso, who was part of an NBA championship, plays better defense than Dennis and hits the three better while being his equal as a ballhandling lead guard. Rob and Jeanie won’t be doing Dennis any favors for the reasons I’ve mentioned a few different times. That ship sailed when he kicked the more than fair (one would say generous based on what his market value has turned out to be since Caruso managed to find a roughly 10 million dollar deal and Dennis could not) extension to the curb.
As you said, we already have enough guards and so we’re basically overpaying for a trading chip it feels unlikely anyone would want to trade for. I don’t get it. We’re not big players at the mid-season trading deadline under Pelinka, anyhow. So we’d blow a bunch of money on a disgruntled player because…we really really hope the few minutes he’d play would enhance what is obviously a low value based on overall league interest? None of that makes any sense to me at all.

Dude…you’re painting an ugly self-portrait at this point, Mr. Schroder…

Trying to bully a team that is offering you what it will because. come one guys, I really blew it a couple months back and completely over-estimated my value on the open market and that’s roughly 1/4 of what I was planning on!
Overseas is his best option for $$$, Celtics if he wants to stay in the NBA at all. See you, dude, no place for you on the Lakers. You blew it, now you have to live with it.
