I tend to agree with you, Sean. We want to re-sign Dennis next offseason so you want to keep him happy. You also have to remember how impactful Rondo playing with LeBron was in the playoffs. Dennis starting could be part of the Lakers’ ultimate load management strategy for LeBron.
As for does it matter? The Lakers 10 man rotation is so strong both on offense and defense, that no matter who starts, the second unit is still a killer. In the end, we have 10 guys who could easily be starters on most teams. That’s unmatched depth and versatility. I thought we were deeper and more talented last year than the competition and that proved true in the playoffs but nothing like we have this year.

I’m leaning to thinking Giannis may stay too. I don’t see him following KD’s lead and joining the team that eliminated him and I certainly don’t see the Bucks trading him unless he were to come right out and request it.
The issue is probably more his agent demanding changes to the roster to help solve the issues that made them vulnerable the last two playoffs, although Giannis’ shooting woes are a big part of those issues.
I actually am rooting for Giannis to sign the supermax this summer so the Lakers don’t waste opportunities waiting for him like they did with Kawhi. He’s not a great fit on the Lakers, who really need a guard as their third superstar.
