Well, we all knew this was coming. I think AD was more versatile and was a better defensive player than Giannis but I realize I’m biased and did not see as many Bucks games as Lakers games. So congratulations, Giannis. Enjoy it because the only way you’re going to get a ring to go with it is to join the Lakers.
The Bucks also dominated the team and individual defensive ratings this season and I’m sure that carried a lot of weight even though the competition in the East is not at the level of the competition in the West. The top six and 8 of the 11 Defrtgs were Bucks. Only Laker was AC at 7.
If the Bucks meet the Lakers in the Finals, AD will get his chance to prove he’s the better defender as they go head-to-head. In the meantime, I think Davis would rather win the championship than any individual award, including DPOY and MVP, both of which the writers are going to give to Giannis.
You can copy this response for when he beats out LeBron for MVP too. That will be an even bigger injustice than giving him the DPOY award. If there was a DMVP, that should have been AD.
