The general opinion is nobody is willing to trade for CP3 because of he’s old and over the hill and has 2 years and $75 million left on his contract, especially with coronavirus killing every team’s bottom line the next two years.
But the Lakers might see it differently and feel CP3 still has a lot left in his tank and would be the perfect fit to play 2 years and help a 35-year old LeBron James win a couple of championships. Coronavirus could open the door for the Lakers to trade for CP3.
For one thing, a trade of Green, KCP, Bradley, and McGee and a pick would save OKC over $50 million over the next two years as well as more assets. That’s could be very tempting and there aren’t many other teams if any who want a championship enough to take on CP3’s contract.
For the Lakers, it would be a smarter move than chasing Giannis. We would keep Kuzma and Caruso.
