I’ve been screaming for Vogel to bench JaVale against the Rockets from before the series started so I’m just glad he finally did it. At this point, McGee’s and Dwight’s minutes have been reduced to being irrelevant although I would still like to see Rondo, Kuzma, or Morris start.
However, I want to give Vogel credit for two other moves that were more important than benching Javale. The first was doubling Harden, which took the ball out of his hands and ignited the Lakers’ defense. The second was for finally playing five-out on offense the second half.
I’ve been screaming at Frank not only to go small but to ‘play’ small. Don’t play big with a small lineup. Don’t play 4-out with AD in the post against Tucker. Spread the floor with 5-out. Open anes for LeBron, AD, and Kuzma to attack and post up Bron. He did that all 2nd half.
