Lakers have unveiled their City Edition jerseys for this season, and this year they are doing something different by having a City Edition floor to go with those jerseys, which is pretty cool! pic.twitter.com/zmSJ6vaXnH

4-out vs. 5-out. Seeing more 4-out. Organization, play calling, structure is exactly what Lakers needed to make the Lakers the best offense in the league. Called out lack of offensive rebounding, failure to switch 1-4 after first game and the team responded. At any rate, JJ just doing a sensational job coaching team. Very impressive first half with Lakers starting lineup and rotation.
Continuity is going to be major issue. While Ham was a poor coach, the team showed they could play offense. It’s going to be a huge advantage running same team back. What really impressed was LeBron and AD playing great and being even more important.
Defense. 1-4 switching is a huge improvement and works better with Lakers drop coverage for AD. It also helps all of the Lakers defenders. Eliminates guys chasing ball handlers. This is going to make Lakers better defensively and help Vando, DLO, Reaves, and LeBron not have to chase players around screens. This is going to make Lakers defense even better. Great defensive adjustments by JJ Redick. This is going to make a big difference defensively.
Some good discussion about 9-man rotation. Is 9th man just a center. Working now with Gabe, Max, and Vando as sure bets for rotation and Wood, Knecht, Hayes, and maybe Koloko. Max should be the Lakers best bench player as he has led team in minutes and first man off the bench. Be interesting to see if JJ expands rotation to allow more rest time for LeBron and AD. Note, they both played around 18 minutes in the first half. Love to see LeBron and AD average under 40 mpg.

I’m in 7th heaven. Finally, Lakers have a head coach with vision for the modern game. Shooting 40-50 threes per game on O and switching everything 1-4 on D are major moves to embrace the modern game that the Lakers needed to make long ago. Better late than never. This team is going to surprise everybody.

LOL. I’ve found that there are four things that will not let affect my everyday mood. I call them the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse – Sports, Politics, Traffic, and Technology.
Lakers in preseason, Yankees in postseason, and 49ers sucking under overrated loser coach Kyle Shanahan. Looking for Lakers and Yankees to win this season but 49ers season and Kyle Shanahan are over.

Anybody who's tried to defend guards understands how switching everything 1-4 makes it so easier to stop penetration and defend threes.
No more ball handlers putting our defenders in jail for each midranges or floaters. Now we have a perimeter D that complements our drop cov.

Waaay cool. Not sure anything will touch the Griffey’s going back to back though! That was Story Book!
-
Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. were a legendary duo in baseball, indeed. They not only played together but even hit back-to-back home runs in a game—talk about a dream team! While basketball is certainly more physically demanding in terms of constant movement and contact, baseball has its own set of challenges, like the intense focus and precision required. The Griffeys’ success isn’t just about the sport itself, but their talent and dedication. Similarly, in the NBA, players like LeBron and Bronny have their unique skills and pressures. Each sport has its own way of measuring greatness.
-
-
I asked LeBron how special it is that he played with Bronny on his birthday: “For a father, it means everything. For someone who didn’t have that growing up, to be able to have that influence on…your son, it’s one of the greatest things you could ever hope for or wish for.”

Seeing LeBron James face off against 10 father-son duos would be a spectacle, but witnessing him and Bronny play together on the same team? That’s a legacy in the making. We, as fans, should cherish this moment. LeBron has laid down the foundation with his incredible career; now it’s Bronny’s time to rise and shine. It’s more than just a game—it’s a passing of the torch. Let’s rally behind them and celebrate this historic chapter in basketball history.

Dang cool! Griffey’s were baseball. Father Ken and Ken JR Son Homered same game back to back! Junior is in the Hall, Dad should be?

Not that it matters but this was a winnable game, bad shot selection and zero transition defense in general are the culprits. Yes, it was mostly G League level guys playing, but if the Lakers go 0-fer it will just be unwanted noise going into the regular season. The starters look solid, but that hasn’t really been the issue, anyhow. The bench is, has and will continue to be the main issue.
-
I’m not worried about our preseason record. How AD and the starting lineup played in the first half is 1000 times more important than winning or losing this preseason game.
What we saw in that first half is how LeBron James and Anthony Davis could perform with three good starters and a better head coach and coaching staff.

Big change in Lakers' O was 40 3PAs pg. JJ would like 50 3PA pg. First half spacing was great. Easy for LeBron and AD to get to rim.
Big change in Lakers' D was switching-1-thru-4, which eliminated opposing floaters & midranges. Switching was better fit w/drop coverage by AD. https://t.co/DXWAlHjLEs

NGL, if the Lakers want to be this switch heavy defense especially 1-4 then I’m all for keeping Vando on the bench and letting him absolutely WRECK HAVOC with that second group

JJ Redick has only been on the job for a few months, but the head coach of the Lakers has already coined two phrases that tell a lot about his philosophy as a leader:⁰⁰

Making 27.5% (11-40) from three was decidedly not encouraging…lol
I’m not willing to cast an opinion in iron, and there were some things that happened on offense that were really positive (mainly off of cuts, quick interior passes and scores at the rim) but this team will not be an elite jump shooting team as currently built. We’ll see how quickly JJ figures that one out, though.

At half:
LeBron James: 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 8/12 FG
Anthony Davis: 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 7/10 FG
Preseason so no major takeaways.
But they're still them. Remember that. pic.twitter.com/OdiaDbTUhw
