Whom are the Lakers targeting in top five?
Have not worked out anybody that high.
Love to see Lakers go after Donovan Clingan.
AD would love to have him as front court mate.
Laker best option for future is two bigs lineup.

Donovan Clingan could still be there at 5. He would be the most logical target. I’m sure they saw plenty of film while researching Hurley.

Got me thinking, would the Lakers trade on of those future 1Sts and this years to move up for say Clingan? He would 25 in 2029 and not even in his prime. Wonder if they feel their target is ready to really contribute now. I

It looks very possible. Part of the logic is you’re getting the perfect second big to start next to Anthony Davis and a player who could have immediate impact as Davis’ backup center.
Frankly, I can see us drafting Edey at 17 to save the picks. Edey has an unknown floor and ceiling but he’s going to help any team’s PIP and FTM.

Rare to be able to get a #5 pick in any draft and for a position that could change everything. Clingan’s what you need down the road against these teams with bruising bigs.

Not sure what we would have to give away to move up in an admittedly very weak draft.

Protected first round pick plus #17 for #5?
LakerTom says
Problem is there are some great center prospects available at #17. Lakers need their 2029 and 2031 unprotected picks to get a couple of elite starters to upgrade our starting lineup’s defense and volume 3-point shooting.
