Aloha,
The first big man trade just hit. The Rockets received an unremarkable
Collection of players BUT, they also receive the 26 th pick in this years draft. Like I’ve been saying all along, a pick 5 years down the road is not as valuable as a pick that can be used right away. I expect more of the same this summer.

Sources: The Mavericks are sending Boban Marjanovic, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, Marquese Chriss and the No. 26 pick to the Rockets for Christian Wood.

That’s essentially a first round pick and filler for Wood.
His attitude problems must have hurt his trade value.
Seems like Rockets should have gotten more.

Only expiring contracts. Rockets building from scratch the way they should. Targeting draft picks to collect cheap talent. Smart to chase long game.

It’s interesting that the Lakers did not appear to have any interest in Wood although there was some at the trade deadline last year. His defense is certainly suspect as maybe his team first character but he is a huge talent offensively to get for a late first round pick.
Wood is not a logical pick for a Darvin Ham team although I think out picks will have a lot more value than normal since they’re post LeBron but may have to be unprotected for max value. At any rate, hopefully this is a sign the Lakers believe they can do much better than a defensive challenged Christian Wood.

The 1st domino to fall. Draft next week then the floodgates open 2 weeks from tomorrow. Gonna be interesting to see how THT, Nunn , and those long lost draft picks are actually valued around the league. Time for talking is just about over…
