Aloha,
The words coming from LeBron lately leads me to believe he will be gone after next year. Just a few of what he’s said.
With the All-Star game in Cleveland, Jason Lloyd of The Athletic asked LeBron if a return to the Cavaliers was possible.
“The door’s not closed on that,” James told The Athletic Saturday following the East’s team practice on the campus of Cleveland State. “I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don’t know. I don’t know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free.”
And
My last year will be played with my son,” James said. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
So why wait? He brought this on himself and now he’s trying to blame others for the utter failure that trading for Russ was. We can be left with nothing or be proactive.
Trade LeBron for Jarret Allen, Love and a 1st round and 2nd round pick. Toronto has been searching for a skilled big. Send AD to them for Achiuwa, Anunoby, Tent jr and 2 1st rounders. Detroit wanted 2 firsts for Grant, send Love and 2 first rounders. Now you have a young talented group and once Russ falls off the books, more cap space and picks. But, that probably won’t happen, he will leave the team in shambles like he normally does.

The only problem with that is the same you always have with trades. Not going to happen. I can’t envision a scenario where the Lakers trade LeBron and AD, as logical as it might be.
I think what we’re seeing is the Lakers trying to distance themselves a little from Klutch Sports and LeBron putting on the pressure already to make major moves this summer or else.
Problem is I don’t see Rob Pelinka trading LeBron. Bronny won’t be eligible to be drafted until 2024. Lakers will try to make sure to somehow draft Bronny, even if it costs them picks, to keep LeBron and Klutch happy. And trading AD would be foolish.
Could it happen? Man, anything’s possible and the Lakers don’t have strong, intelligent, problem solving ownership and management right now. That’s the difference between the LeBron transition being an opportunity or a danger. That’s what worries me.

I agree that’s why I said it’s probably not going to happen. But it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t. And as far as trading AD, I don’t think it’s foolish. He hasn’t proven that he can be a true number one guy. He’s injured a lot and disappears to often. We could have a core of young rising stars, cap space in another year. Extra draft picks and very tradable contracts. I fear in a year we will have AD and not much else after next year. And the 2023 free agent class is that exciting to me. We will probably go after another star on the wrong side of 30.

Like the man said….”Get busy livin or get busy dyin”. LeBron will be here for one more season…maybe two. He’s got no problem prodding Pelinka into tossing away those future draft picks especially since he ain’t gonna be here to deal with it. Then we’re stuck with AD and the Los Angeles Pelicans. I wouldn’t hesitate to start testing the waters for an AD trade right now..he can’t be the future face of the franchise.

In a star driven league, we’ve got 5 of the 75, but it’s not good enough. So we blame management? It’s their job to get stars, faded or not. Tis what it is…

At this point, I don’t know if any team would want to trade for AD anymore. He is just not durable at all. Trading him might just be the place to start. And that is if it’s possible at all.
