It seems like ever time a big 3 is formed, there is always negative comments about fit. It seems like no one other then the superstars involved can see how it will work. When the big 3 in Miami was formed the naysayers were out in force. But D Wade and Bosch both adjusted their game to fit with LeBron. The same thing happened when KD joined the Warriors. He adjusted his game to fit in the Warriors system. And last year when Harden joined the Nets, it seemed like no one thought that could work. How could ball dominate Harden fit with ball dominate Irving. Well Harden adjusted his game from scorer to playmaker.
Our big 3 will figure it out. And one thing to remember is that a huge advantage of having a big 3 is that at least one of the 3 is usually always on the court. LeBron will still run the show when Russ sits. And when they play together Russ will learn to play off the ball a little more, like D Wade did in Miami. I expect to see Russ with his athleticism cash in big from LeBron’s
Passing. For me the offense will be fine. It will be all about our defense. On paper we gave up a lot defense. But defense more then anything else is all about effort. I think everyone will buy in. If you play for Frank you will need to give 100% on D to see the floor.
I completely agree Michael. I see some fit issues in regards to three point shooting and it pretty much ends there. You won’t see a replica of Houston where Russ had to create everything off of drives as there was no low post threat to dump the ball into for easy kick outs off back-to-the-basket offense. Nor will it be a talent deficit like in Washington and OKC. He has two elite level players at positions he doesn’t play to augment his drives and passing. Russ could win MVP this season but the Lakers would be better off if AD did.
Thanks Jamie, even 3 point shooting isn’t a problem with better shot selection. He shot an okay 35% on catch and shoot 3’s and an excellent 40% on corner 3’s. He really sucks at pull up 3’s, 28%. If he eliminates those he should be fine.
