History shows Super-teams require at least 2 years of painful, tedious, roster construction.
Only one “super-team” (Celtics 2008) won a title during their first year together.
Heat in 2011 made the Finals but lost
Cavs in 2015 made the Finals but lost
Warriors (73-9) in 2016 lost in the Finals
Nets in 2021 lost in the 2nd Round
You can count on putting some Superstars together and winning…EVENTUALLY. Things have a way of working out when a GM and coach can have 2 FULL off-seasons to navigate how to build the right roster.
Let’s keep something else in mind, the 2008 Celtics were mostly made of veterans, Rondo and Leon Powe were young and made a difference, so did P.J. Brown as a vet off the heap.
The Heat were in their prime, mid to late 20s.
The Cavs were also in their mid 20s minus LeBron (31)
The Warriors were in the prime of their prime.
The 2021 Nets are at the end of their prime. Both their main Superstars are close to their middle 30s, and the other star is close to 30. All 3 possess skills few can, they also have significant injury history. Kyrie also has a history of bailing on his, commitments, his teammates, his job whenever he feels like he wants.
Harden and KD are both due HUGE contract extensions. Harden will be 33 after he signs an extension. KD will be 34.
The Nets window is not on scale like the Cavs or Warriors. They have a very small window they need to crack through.
Maybe they get one and everybody feels good about that…maybe they don’t…
For 2021 this is the Nets:

NBA fans and the media need to look at history as a guide. Only one team had been able to pull it off. This isn’t NBA 2K or the Trade Machine. These are human beings trying to achieve a common goal, which is hard to do.
